Hello and thank you for checking out my new site! A bit about myself…
I attribute my desire to travel to receiving National Geographic magazines from as young as I can remember. Every story and photo gave me an urge to be there and see it for myself. As if they were brochures advertising the world.. If these fascinating places really existed, I needed to visit them.
While first starting college, I battled the weight of taking classes while also having to work full time. I wanted something that was more specific, instead of feeling like I was spending all my hard-earned money on various classes that may not benefit my actual career goals. At that point, as far as I had travelled was Mexico and Canada, but I knew my most pressing passion was to see the world. As fate would have it, I received a mailed catalog of courses from Foothill College in Los Altos, California, with a whole page dedicated to their “Travel Careers Program”. I didn’t even know such a thing existed!
After completing the two year program, which led into an internship at a travel agency, I entered the industry as an agent for AAA in Capitola, California. But, before starting the job, I hopped on a plane for my first overseas trip – a solo backpacking tour of some European highlights. If I was going to sell and work in travel, Europe is a must! It was about three weeks of valuable travel lessons, enriching experiences, and reassurance I was on the path I was destined for. Traveling was undoubtedly life-altering and I wanted to share it with others, helping people see the world.
I spent a few years with AAA, then was an independent travel agent for some time, and later worked for an adventure travel company that focuses on trekking and off-the-beaten-path destinations. Working in the industry, you need to travel to perfect your expertise. I am endlessly grateful for the opportunities my career path has allowed, but also consider every trip I take to be a value to my clients, family and friends – my goal is to learn and inspire.
First-hand knowledge contributes immensely to my overall expertise. A list of destinations I’ve travelled to:
